Driver Airlifted to Hospital After Accident in Port St. Lucie

JAN. 20, 2021 | PORT ST. LUCIE–A 67-year-old man was airlifted to a local hospital after his car was struck by a van yesterday afternoon.

Port St Lucie Police officers responded to Southwest Port St. Lucie Blvd and Southwest Aviation Ave.

A 2001 gold Honda Civic driven by the 67-year-old man, made a left turn from northbound Port St. Lucie Blvd. to go west on Aviation Ave. The inside and middle southbound lane of the boulevard were stopped with traffic backed up from the Gatlin light. A 2015 Ford Transit van driven by a 31-year-old man was southbound in the outside lane. The transit van struck the passenger side of the Honda. The driver of the Honda was flown to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in serious condition.

As of this morning, he currently is in critical/unstable condition at Lawnwood.  Traffic Homicide Investigators are investigating the accident.  There are no criminal charges expected.
