AUG. 27, 2020 | 5 A.M. | PORT ST. LUCIE–The city will host a construction public information meeting for the Floresta Drive Corridor Improvement Project from Southbend Boulevard to the Elkcam Waterway on Wednesday, Sept. 2 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The Floresta Drive Corridor Improvement Project will provide a two-lane roadway with landscaping, lighting, sidewalks and bicycle lanes. Improvements to the corridor will help with future projected traffic volumes while helping preserve the local neighborhood.Construction for Floresta Drive from Southbend Boulevard to the Elkcam Waterway is expected to start at the end of September. It was initially scheduled to begin this past spring.
Floresta Drive from the Elkcam Waterway to Prima Vista Boulevard is currently in initial design with construction anticipated in Fall 2021.
The project is possible due to the approval of the one-half cent sales tax voter referendum in November 2018. The Floresta Drive Corridor project is one of the priority projects funded by the new sales tax.
The information meeting will be at the Port St. Lucie Community Center, 2195 SE Airoso Blvd. The meeting will be hosted in-person as an informal open house. There will not be a formal presentation.
Attendees can see the project’s information and talk with city staff and members of the project team regarding Phase 1 of Floresta Drive. The city will be following CDC guidance.
Another option for those who would prefer not to attend the meeting in person. Residents can contact Project Public Information Officer, Beth Zsoka, to schedule a virtual one-on-one meeting to discuss the project and answer specific questions regarding individual property impacts.
