Martin County unanimously votes for wearing of masks in public

JULY 7, 2020 | 7 P.M. | MARTIN COUNTY—After a week’s delay and hundreds of public comment to the contrary, the Martin County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to mandate masks be worn by people while in public if social distancing is not an option.
The emergency ordinance includes:
– Indoor public places, businesses and establishments
– Outdoor public places, businesses and establishments
– Restaurants and food service establishments
– County and municipal government facilities
People can be fined $50 on the first offense, $100 for a second offense and $250 on a third offense
The ordinance ends Aug. 8.
