Shuckers Shuts Down After Staff Test Positive for COVID-19

JUNE 21, 2020 | 9:58 A.M. | HUTCHINSON ISLAND–Barely three weeks after restaurants were allowed to reopen on a limited basis, Shuckers restaurant shut down its operation after it announced that at least one of their staff members tested positive for COVID-19.
An announcement on the restaurant’s telephone recording and on its Facebook page confirmed they were closed because of the virus. An employee said it was “less than a handful” of employees who were infected.
Shucker’s spokesperson said they plan to reopen on June 25.
This is the second restaurant known in Martin County to close because of COVID-19. Manatee Island Bar and Grill in Port Salerno closed voluntarily because of the management’s concerns over increase in the number of COVID cases in the county.
