Fort Pierce resident’s cause of death ruled a suicide

OCT. 22, 2019 | 3:55 P.M. | FORT PIERCE–A medical examiners office autopsy report released today says that Fort Pierce resident, Phillip Lott, 71, died of a gunshot wound to the head.

His body was found Oct. 2 in a parking structure in downtown Fort Pierce, two days after being reported missing.

According to the report by  Dr. Roger Mittleman, chief medical examiner for St. Lucie, Martin, Indian River and Okeechobee counties the wound was self-inflicted. There were no drugs found in his system.

Lott’s wife last saw him at his home in the 1500 block of Pheasant Walk, on Sept. 30, according to Fort Pierce Police Department.
