WOMAN IN STOLEN FIRE RESCUE TRUCK CARRYING PATIENT CRASHES INTO FORT PIERCE POLICE SUV

1:00 p.m.  Fort Pierce — A woman is suspected of stealing a St. Lucie County Fire Rescue truck that was on a call on Avenue B in Fort Pierce.

According to Fort Pierce Police, Amber Lynn Sills, 29,  stole  the ambulance. She crashed into a Fort Pierce Police patrol SUV. The officer was just getting out of the SUV at the time of the crash.

There was a patient in the truck. A second vehicle had to come to the scene to take the patient.

The officer driving the SUV was not hurt, according to the  police

Sills has a  history of missteps with the law.  In 2008 she was arrested for grand theft, writing a forged check and battery.  She pleaded no contest to the petit theft and was found guilty, and was released for time served while in custody.

In 2007, she failed to appear in another case where she was accused of prostitution.

UPDATE July 27, 2019: Sills was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, fleeing and eluding, grand theft of a motor vehicle and failure to appear in court. She remained at the St. Lucie County Jail Saturday in lieu of $135,005 bail.
